Published StorySpotlight: "A Day in the Life of an Endless Night Spent Under Dangerworld in the Time After the Cataclysm" in Roar & Thunder

This story had a long, bumpy road to publication. It was initially accepted last May, by a publication that went defunct without telling anybody - most notably, me. It just quietly stopped paying its web hosting bills, and never wrote to me or, as far as I can tell, anybody else to let me know that it would no longer exist. For all I know, the fellow who ran it was hit by a bus - since his e-mail address was tied to the site's domain, I'll never know.

Hopefully, he's alive. But so is the story! It found a new home months and months later when I decided to send it out into the world again. But then, the editor of Roar & Thunder, who published the story, took ill just as the story was about to be put up! It's almost as though the universe is trying to stop this story from getting out there!

Anyway, here it is: 'A Day in the Life of an Endless Night Spent Under Dangerworld in the Time After the Cataclysm.'

I hope you enjoy it!

  1. Great read! I always enjoy a dark (no pun intended...well, ok, maybe a little) dystopian story. I think you hit on an aspect of it that few have bothered with, and thats the mental state of people who have been underground for an extended period. Liked this one a lot.

  2. Great one, Troy! You should write a story about a story that kills (or at least seriously injures) anyone who's trying to publish it. Would be a killer-story!

  3. I thoroughly enjoyed your story. Thanks so much for pointing me towards it. Maybe an update to let us know what happened AFTER.
