This week, we're looking at 'A View of the Park,' a story featured in the October 2012 inaugural issue of Dublin-based Roadside Fiction, an international fiction magazine with 'a passion for the sharp, outrageous, yet realistic story.'.
The story is lighthearted yet dark, amusing yet sinister. It is a look at the power of boredom, and the pratfalls of biology. It is a joke with an obscene method of delivery - the story form of one of those flags that say 'POW' shooting out from a real-looking gun. It's not exactly suitable for kids.
But really, at its core, its simply a very silly story about something unusual happening as a result of somebody's boredom.
